to Remote Learning

Thursday, November 12, 2020
All Jeffco middle and high schools are shifting to 100% remote instruction on Monday, November 16, and will continue in remote instruction through Tuesday, December 22, the last day of school before Winter Break.  A decision about the learning model for the return to classes in January will be made by the district closer to that date, based on the trends in COVID cases at that time.

End of the 1st Trimester is Friday, Nov. 13

Friday, Nov. 13 will be a regular asynchronous remote learning day.  Because it is the end of the trimester and we’ll be shifting to remote learning to start the 2nd Trimester on Monday, Nov. 16, most student work on Friday will focus on completing any remaining work in each class from the current unit.  All remaining 1st trimester work must be turned in by 3:00 PM Friday to receive credit.  Teacher office hours will be during their regularly scheduled times if students need help or additional support.

All grading and attendance information is available to parents online through Campus Portal.  Gradebooks are updated each week, so this is a great tool for staying informed of your student’s progress throughout the year.

You can go directly to Campus Portal from our Quick Links on the Deer Creek webpage or log on to JeffcoConnect, click on “Campus Portal,” and select your student’s name to view teacher gradebooks and attendance information.  For a tutorial on the Campus Gradebook, try this video.

2nd Trimester schedules are now visible in Campus Portal

Make a visit to Campus Portal to view student schedules for 2nd Trimester.  Students will begin this schedule on Monday.  You can see the new schedule and times in the Schedule section, and view a printable version under Documents.

Remote Classes begin on Monday, Nov. 16

Following their new 2nd trimester schedules, all students will be on a modified Remote Learning schedule.

This schedule provides students with a short break between classes and a one-hour lunch Monday-Thursday.   For simplicity, each class period starts on the hour, and the extended lunch time gives students a break from their screens in the middle of the day.

Students will be logging in to Google Classroom daily at the beginning of each class period.  Although student schedules for hybrid students indicate Blue and Silver days, during this 100% Remote period, all students will be working synchronously with their teacher every day through Zoom/Meet.  Students will be expected to attend their Zoom/Meet session for the entirety of the class period, with video on, in order to count as being present for the class.
Fridays will continue with asynchronous, independent work for students, with help sessions in each subject scheduled throughout the day for additional student support.
